Boater Safety Courses
|April 25, 2011|
Safe boating saves lives and prevents accidents. Boaters between the ages of 10 and 18, and all operators of personal watercraft (PWC) and specialty prop-craft (SPC) on New York State waters who are residents of New York State must fulfill the boater educations course requirements by taking a NYS classroom course.
The Hempstead Town Bay Constables offer residents an opportunity to learn the basics of watercraft safety. Classes are now forming in two age categories: Young Safe Boating (ages 10-17) and Adult Safe Boating (ages 18 and up). These classes will enable participants to meet the requirements needed to operate a personal watercraft in New York State.
Safe Boating classes are now mandated by the State of New York for the operation of personal watercraft (jet skis, wave runners, etc.) Classes will be held at the Conservation and Waterways Administration Building on Lido Boulevard in Point Lookout. There will be a NYS fee of $10 for adults (no fee for youngsters). Program dates and times available by calling the Bay Constables at (516) 801-5608 or (516) 801-5609.
