In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter is encouraging all residents to find it in their hearts to adopt a cuddly cat or dog for FREE during the shelter’s “Tails of Love” pet adoption event on Saturday, February 15, 2014. Each of the shelter’s furry friends has a “tale” behind them, and they’re just waiting for their chance to continue their story with a loving family to call their own.
From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the shelter will be providing Valentine’s gifts that include free spaying/neutering, rabies vaccinations and microchipping for all adopted pets. All cats will be tested for feline AIDS/leukemia. All animals will receive age-appropriate vaccinations.
“We are confident that residents will fall in love with our affectionate, devoted cats and dogs here at the Hempstead Town Animal Shelter,” said Shelter Director Cindy Iacopella. “So come on down and create your own ‘tail of love’ on February 15th!”
Animal Shelter staffers will act as “matchmakers,” to help residents find the perfect cat or dog for them. Families are also invited to join in a family photo with “Cupid” and their newly adopted pet to capture their special day. Residents can take advantage of a bake sale and raffle drawings. What’s more, all residents who bring a pet treat or toy for a shelter animal will become eligible for a door prize.
The Hempstead Town Animal Shelter is located at 3320 Beltagh Avenue in Wantagh. For more information, call the Shelter at (516) 785-5220 or visit www.toh.li/animal-shelter.
