Town Animal Shelter to Host ‘Spring Fling’ for Mother’s Day on May 10th; All Pet Adoption Fees Waived

The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter will get in the Mother’s Day spirit on Saturday, May 10th, when the shelter holds a “Spring Fling” to celebrate moms – both human and animal. All adoption fees will be waived from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and residents will enjoy many fun raffles and giveaways.

“The Animal Shelter is proud to get in the swing of things during the ‘Spring Fling’ to celebrate Mother’s Day,” said Shelter Director Cindy Iacopella. “We invite all residents to join us on May 10th as we waive all adoption fees to help our wonderful cats and dogs find loving homes.”

All “Spring Fling” adoptions include free spaying/neutering, rabies vaccinations and micro chipping. All cats will be tested for feline AIDS/leukemia, and dogs will be heart worm tested. Adopted pets will also go home with goody bags.

What’s more, residents can participate in raffles and take home samples of pet food. 1-800-Flowers will be donating “a-dog-able” fresh flower arrangements for adopting families, and Phil’s Pizzeria and Restaurant of Wantagh will donate restaurant certificates for the first adopters.

The shelter will also be playing an episode of Animal Planet’s “Too Cute,” starring Peaches, of the town Animal Shelter, and her kittens.

The Animal Shelter is located at 3320 Beltagh Avenue in Wantagh. For more information, please contact the shelter at (516) 785-5220 or visit
