Among the holiday tidings and seasonal traditions in Hempstead Town are the Annual Children's Shows presented by the Department of Parks and Recreation. Upcoming performances include a theatrical production of "A Christmas Carol" at Levittown Hall on Saturday, December 17, 1 pm, and a performance by singer Darlene Graham, on Wednesday, December 28 at 11 a.m. in the Merrick Road Golf Course Clubhouse.
"These delightful holiday performances will enable children and parents to share a fun-filled, family outing," commented Supervisor Kate Murray. "For moms and dads looking to entertain the kids during the holiday recess the upcoming shows offer a chance to share some laughs and have a great time together."
"A Christmas Carol," is the time honored holiday classic penned by Charles Dickens and performed by Plaza Theatrical Productions. Darlene Graham and the Shades of Green Band will present a performance of "Stomp It Up," featuring sing-a-longs and dance numbers.
Tickets for both shows are priced at $5 for children and adults alike. Children two years of age and younger will be admitted FREE of charge to each show. Tickets are available by calling 292-9000, ext. 382, or by visiting the Town of Hempstead Parks Department at 200 North Franklin Street in Hempstead. Remaining tickets will be sold at the door prior to each performance.
"The holiday season is the perfect time to share some special moments with your family," added Councilman Gary Hudes. "Parents will enjoy the upcoming shows as much as their children and I encourage families to attend both performances."
