Hempstead Town Showcases Creative Works of Talented Senior Artists, Supervisor Murray ‘Meets the Artists’ at Town Hall Reception
|May 09, 2012|
Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray invites residents to browse fine works of art crafted by award-winning artists from May 9th through May 31st in the Town Hall lobby. The showcase will feature the creative talents of the artists who participate in the Town of Hempstead’s EASEL (Experienced Art Students Enrichment League). Supervisor Murray helped kick off the ceremony this week during the annual “Meet the Artists” Reception in Hempstead Town Hall.
EASEL boasts a talented group of Hempstead Town’s creative senior citizens, many of whom have won awards and exhibited works in galleries across the region.
“We are proud to display the outstanding creative abilities of our township’s talented golden-aged residents,” Murray said. “I encourage people to visit Town Hall to browse these fine works of art created by their fellow residents.”
EASEL holds meetings every Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Oceanside Senior Center, 2900 Rockaway Avenue, Oceanside. The program includes art demonstrations, field trips, workshops, discussions, and, most importantly, an opportunity for members to meet and work with fellow artists. There is no charge for membership and members are requested to provide their own painting material.
To become a member of EASEL, or for more information, please call Hempstead Town’s Department of Senior Enrichment at (516) 485-8100.
