As Valentine’s Day approaches, it’s time to start looking for that special someone. And, whether you’re seeking someone outgoing or shy, big or small and with short or long hair, the Hempstead Town Animal Shelter has you covered. Indeed, many loveable cats and dogs can be taken home – at no charge – during the shelter’s “My Furry Valentine” pet adoption event on Saturday, February 16, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Love is in the air at the Hempstead Town Animal Shelter,” said Shelter Director Cynthia Iacopella. “I encourage all residents to come down and join us on February 16th to take part in the festivities and find a ‘furry valentine’ to call their own.”
To help sweeten the deal, the Animal Shelter is waiving all fees on adoptions, which include spaying/neutering, rabies vaccinations and microchipping (cats are tested for feline AIDS/leukemia) from Saturday, February 9th through Saturday, February 16th.
What’s more, the Animal Shelter will set the mood as “Cupid” and a team of qualified “matchmakers” will help residents find the perfect dog or cat for their family. Families can have their pictures taken for free with “Cupid” and their newly adopted pal. Residents will also enjoy various goods, raffles and a bake sale. And, if you bring a pet treat or toy for a shelter animal, you become eligible for a door prize.
The Hempstead Town Animal Shelter is located at 3320 Beltagh Avenue in Wantagh. For more information, call the Shelter at (516) 785-5220 or visit www.toh.li/animal-shelter.
