Each year the Town of Hempstead proudly celebrates the achievements of outstanding women. During the month of March, nationally recognized as Women’s History Month, the town’s own Pathfinder Award is presented to local women who have excelled in their careers, the arts, education and volunteer activities, among other areas. Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray wants to remind residents to send in their nominations for women who are deserving of this recognition by the February 5, 2013 deadline.
“So that we might acknowledge the most deserving women with this prestigious award, we are reaching out to local individuals, organizations, businesses and schools asking that they recommend candidates for the Pathfinder Award,” stated Murray. Each nominee will be carefully considered in the category specified by the person or organization making the recommendation. Award winners will be honored at a special Town Hall ceremony on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 before their friends and family.
Nomination forms with an explanation of the various award categories can be obtained by downloading the nomination form at www.toh.li. We hope you will take a few minutes to nominate a candidate who either lives or works in the Town of Hempstead.
Categories to be considered are as follows: ARTS, EDUCATION, HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR, BUSINESS, HEALTH SERVICES, HUMANITARIAN, COMMUNITY AFFAIRS, VOLUNTEER and TOWN OF HEMPSTEAD EMPLOYEE.
All forms, with supporting documentation, must be returned to Hempstead Town Hall no later than February 5, 2013. “We look forward to your participation in the selection of our honorees and hope that you will join with us in March as we pay tribute to all women,” concluded Murray.
