As St. Patrick’s Day approaches, the “luck of the Irish” is on the side of Hempstead Town residents. Indeed, as luck would have it, the Town Animal Shelter will be waiving all adoption fees between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013 for the shelter’s second annual “Lucky You, Lucky Me” pet adoption event.
“We encourage town residents to visit the Animal Shelter and find their ‘pot of gold,’ a cuddly cat or dog to call their own,” said Shelter Director Cynthia Iacopella. “With all adoption fees waived during ‘Lucky You, Lucky Me,’ there’s no better time to bring home your new pet.”
Shelter fees are being waived on adoptions, spaying/neutering, rabies vaccinations and microchipping. Also, cats will be tested for feline aids/leukemia, free of charge.
What’s more, there will be a “St. Pitties Parade” just outside the shelter (weather permitting) at 1 p.m. to highlight the wonderful animals up for adoption at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter. In addition, all residents adopting a pet on March 16th can have their photos taken free with their new pal and a St. Patrick’s Day leprechaun! Several vendors will be in attendance. Lastly, there will be a bake sale and raffle baskets, with all proceeds going to benefit the Tails of Hope Fund. This fund helps to finance extraordinary medical surgeries for sick animals.
