Mother’s Day is “Going to the Dogs” (and Cats) on May 11th at the Hempstead Town Animal Shelter; Adoption Fees Waived in Celebration of Moms Everywhere

The second Sunday of May is a time for celebrating all that moms do for their children, their families and their community. But on the day before, at the Hempstead Town Animal Shelter, “Mother’s Day is Going to the Dogs (and Cats)!”

On Saturday, May 11, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the shelter will be offering one mother of a deal – waiving all adoption fees, including those for spaying/neutering, rabies vaccinations, age-appropriate shots and microchipping. All residents, especially moms, are invited to visit the shelter at 3320 Beltagh Avenue in Wantagh and adopt another little rascal into their home.

“Whether you’re a mom with room in your heart and home for a new pet, or you just want to celebrate Mother’s Day with the love of a cuddly companion, May 11th is a great time to adopt,” said Shelter Director Cindy Iacopella. “After all, nothing says ‘I love you, Mom’ like a loving canine or feline companion.”

Prospective pet adopters are encouraged to bring treats and/or toys for the shelter animals; all those who do so will be eligible for a door prize. There will be raffles and baked goods for sale, with proceeds benefiting the “Tails of Hope Fund,” an organization helping to fund extraordinary medical surgeries for dogs and cats.
