Hempstead Town Wants YOU to Make a ‘Pit Stop’ at the Animal Shelter; All Pit Bull Adoptions are Free on June 22nd

Hempstead Town and Long Island Pit Stop are encouraging residents to make a “pit stop” at the town Animal Shelter in Wantagh on Saturday, June 22 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to consider adopting a pit bull or pit bull mix at no charge. And, in addition to the benefit of having a new loyal companion in your home, adopters will enjoy an added bonus to go along with their new pet.

Residents adopting a pit bull or pit bull mix on this date will not pay a fee for adoption, spay/neuter, rabies vaccination or microchipping. What’s more, adopters will receive a free ticket to a local pit bull workshop being hosted by Tia Torres (of Pit Bulls and Parolees, and the Villalobos Rescue Center).

“Contrary to popular belief, a pit bull is among the most people-friendly dogs that a resident can bring into their home,” said Shelter Director Cindy Iacopella. “The town Animal Shelter is excited to hold this free adoption event for pit bulls and pit bull mixes, in partnership with Long Island Pit Stop and with the support of Tia Torres.”

The Animal Shelter is located at 3320 Beltagh Avenue in Wantagh. For more information, please contact the shelter at (516) 785-5220.
